The Donal Buckley Memorial U10 Tournament took place on Saturday last in Riverstown. Three visiting clubs participated, James Stephens (Kilkenny), Ballygunner (Waterford) and Durlas Óg (Tipperary).
There was a high standard of hurling and determination with every player giving their all. Each club divided their squad into three teams and there were 18 matches played over the course of the morning. The competition was based on a point system for wins, draws and loss, with the deciding match been the final game between James Stephens and Sarsfields. Our Sars lads came out on top winning two of the final three games against James Stephens to retain the Donal Buckley Tournament.
The final standings was Sarsfields 25 points, James Stephens 19 points, Durlas Og 15 points, and Ballygunner 13 points.
Larry Phelan Captain of James Stephens accepted the Plate on behalf of his team while Tom O'Flynn Captain of Sarsfields accepted the Cup on behalf of his team mates.
Thanks to all the visiting clubs for making the trip to Riverstown and contributing to our hurling tournament.
Thanks to all the coaches, parents and referees for helping to make this event a success.
