Sars Under 10s captured the Plate Final this afternoon in Ballyduff Upper Co. Waterford.
Following last weekend adventure they qualified for the final stages today from what started out with 32 teams.
The first game this morning the Sars boys we slow getting out of the blocks and an early goal from Ballygunner Waterford proved decisive with them winning on a score of 1-3 to 0-2.
Thereafter the Plate competition was all to play for with next up St Patrick's(Waterford) in the quarter Finals which Sars dominated and winning on a score line of 2-6 to 0-2.
The Semi Final was a hard fought contest against Mt Sion Waterford. All level at the end of full time meant 10 mins extra time required. Sars rallied and eventually won 2-5 to 1-4.
So after 3 hours, 3 games, 2 changes of jerseys due to the inclement weather the Plate final against St. Carthages from Lismore/Ballysaggart was ready to go.
Another hard encounter which was level with 4 minutes to go but a strong finish from Sars with a goal and a pointed free ensured that Ballyduff Upper Under 10 Plate trophy was heading to Riverstown.
Ballygunner won the Cup Final the only team to overcome Sars in this Tournament.
Well do to all the players, mentors and parents who travelled both weekends.
