Sars U13 captured the P2 Hurling League title last evening in Carrigtwohill overcoming Kilta Óg in an entertaining encounter.
After a slow start by the lads they found themselves well down by 7 points with Kilta Óg racking up 2 goals in quick succession.
However a late rally with a goal from Ruairi Long before half time brought Sars within 4 point on a score of 1-4 to 2-5.
At half time whatever the mentors of Colman Walsh, Jim Hackett, Harry Ormond, Mark Cogan and Rob O' Flynn said it worked wonders and a completely inspired team resumed play. With a few tactical switches by the selectors the Sars lads grew in confidence and started to turn the game around with a number of opportunities snuffed out by the Kilta Óg goalkeeper who had a great game between the sticks. But the relentless attacking of Sars eventually gained return with a goal by Cian O' Sullivan and in the remaining minutes Ruairi Long once again rattled the net. The few minutes of extra time saw some heroic efforts with Sars keeping Kilta Óg pinned in their own half and winning by a single point.
Final score was 3-7 to 2-9 to Sars.
Well done to the all the Sars U13 players, managers and coaches.
