Sarsfields U16 defeated Midleton in a pulsating final this evening in Páirc Uí Rinn. It was nip and tuck througout first half with the little to seperate the teams on the field or score line. At half time Sars were up by 2 points on a score of 1-8 to 0-9.
3 points in the first mins of the 2nd half saw Midleton edge a score up. From there on it was point for point and it was 17 mins into 2nd half that Sars started to add a few score that give them a 3 point advantage. In such a tight game you may have thought that with 10 mins left that this would be a significant margin, but Midleton rallied to level within 4 mins. Again points were traded in the next number of mins. It wasn't until the 30th min that Sars got the decisive point to lead by one which was the final scoring act of the game which finished 1-17 to 0-19.
What a great game, performance and victory by the lads and well done to both the team, management and coaches.
